Langley takes its name from Thomas Langley, a London-based director of the Hudson’s Bay Company who never set foot in North America but whose 1809 loan helped keep the company solvent. Home to 28,963 people (2021 census) on about 10 km², Langley sits in the heart of the Lower Mainland, roughly 45 km southeast of Vancouver.
